The basis for this centerpiece was a
darling tiny palm plant I picked up
at my neighborhood Jewel food
store.
Materials:
1 low floater bowl
Cement
Cling Floral Adhesive
Plastic Wrap
Aqua Crystals tinted yellowish green
1 inexpensive palm plant ($1- Jewel)
1 stem fresh leatherleaf fern (19 cents- Jewel)
1 stem fugi mum (3 whole bouquets for $10!-Jewel- Many stems in bouquet)
1 stem Alstroemeria (from the same bouquet as above-Jewel)
Filler-(from same bouquet as above-Jewel)
(1) Score 2 of the 14" Pedestals a little shorter so they will look like the
picture. You want 3 graduated lengths.
(2) Hot glue ring (comes with pedestals) on the open end of the pedestals.
(3) Put a couple of layers of plastic wrap into the bowl.
(4) Mix water with concrete and put it into the center of the bowl only, not near
the sides (you don't want the concrete to show through the glass bowl).
(5) Embed pedestals in the concrete. RING SIDE DOWN. Check to make
sure they are straight up and down as the concrete dries. Dry for 24 hours.
Remove the embedded pedestals from bowl and the plastic wrap (if you
can). Place floral adhesive on the bottom of the concrete and push it into
the bowl.
(6) Put in a thin layer of Aqua Crystals. Now add plants by
gently washing the soil off the roots with room temp. water.
Then add Aqua Crystals which are tinted a light yellowish green
to fill the bowl.
Take apart 1 stem of fern and place it in the bowl.
Add a few flowers and filler. It took around 10 minutes
to put the design material all together.
The Aqua Crystals keep the flowers moist. If you are going to
put in roses it is best to put them in water tubes first.
This is a very easy centerpiece to do.
And if you can rent the bowls for $1
it can be inexpensive, too.
